Spread about the Reading Public Museum are 10 decorated trees, each representing the discernment, heritage or interests of those who decorated it.

Visitors can not only enjoy the beauty of the trees, but learn a small bit about the community organizations that made them possible. "It's a little bit educational as well as being festive and moderately," said Lindsay Crist, the museum's director of community development. With trees donated by Boscov's, the demonstrate will remain in the museum through Jan. 21. This is the second year for the exhibit, with four additional trees since hindmost year. "Hopefully, we'll keep going and keep getting more organizations enmeshed with," said Emily Moore, manager of marketing and digital media. "It's a fun way to interact with the community." Decorations compass from pretzels on the tree decorated by the Reading Liederkranz German Society Ladies Helper to wine bottle ornaments on that adorned by the Beneficial Society of Victor Emmanuel II. Each tree is situated in an block that relates to the group who decorated it, Crist explained. "So, the Swedish decorated tree is located in the gallery that has the painting of St. Lucy, who is a protector saint," she said. The exhibit is included in the cost of regular admission to the museum, so if you're looking for something to do with the kids or grandkids while they're not in secondary, head on over and take it in.

Decorated trees:

1. Representing the United States is a tree decorated by the gardeners who labourers to maintain the grounds of the museum's beautiful arboretum. The tree is decorated with plants and gardening implements and located in the museum's atrium.

Representing the Pennsylvania German culture is a tree decorated by the Pennsylvania German Cultural Estate Center. The tree is displayed in the Pennsylvania German Gallery. 5. Representing Scandavia is a tree decorated with handmade weekly hearts, each containing a pocket in which candy is placed. Located in the Arms and Armor Gallery, the tree is decorated by the Viking 735 Submit. 6. Representing Ireland is a tree decorated by the Berks County Irish American Comradely Association and the Ancient Order of Hiberians. The tree, located in the Founders Gallery, is festooned with unripened and gold balls and shamrocks. 7. Representing Germany is a tree located in the Founders Gallery, decorated by the Reading Liederkranz German Bund Ladies Auxiliary. Among the tree's decorations are pretzels, which are said to represent two arms crossed in appeal. 8. Representing Italy is a whimsical tree decorated with ornaments resembling pizza slices and bottles of remarkable types of wine. Located in the European Art Gallery, the tree is decorated by the Beneficial Sodality of Victor Emmanuel II. 9. Representing Sweden is a tree located in the European Art Gallery, decorated by the Great Preservation Trust of Berks County. This exhibit focuses on St. Lucia, whose duplicate is located nearby. 10. Representing Poland is a tree decorated with handmade stars, decorated by the Murder-American Heritage Association of Berks County. The tree is located in the American Art Gallery.
